A very live duo of brothers, who play a range of Celtic ballad and contemporary music. "Heart of an Exile" (Click to hear song), the debut album of the Barnaville brothers, covers many favourite songs and the title track is original.

(Some of the music from the album can be heard on this site  - just click this link!)

The album is dedicated to Bridie and Jim Barnaville (Parents). Jim . was from Freshford, Kilkenny and Bridie from Ballydavid, Loughrea, Galway. They settled in London but continued to return to Ireland for extended visits each year. In this situation the boys were raised, spending much time on a farm near Aughrim, in Galway.

The current line up has evolved through many combinations of brothers, relations and friends, forming many bands over a 'number' of years. While pursuing other careers, the various combinations of band members have managed a number of short tours of Ireland as well as playing in a wide variety of venues throughout the U.K.

Originally a harmony group with acoustic instruments, the band still retains the harmony element enhanced by the introduction of synthesized backing.

The brothers’ wide ranging taste in music is reflected in the choice of arrangements for the many traditional songs, which form the core of the band’s repertoire, and the wide variety of different music that the band can perform as the need arises.

The band's alter ego, Squarehead Maguire, introduces our version of Celtic club music to set you dancing until you drop and has been well received in recent performances of the various tracks. The sample single of Squarehead Maguire includes a four minute music version of the film, The Quiet man, entitled "Quiet Man".

The single also includes an original song to mark the changing of the year, entitled "New Morning Light".

Deacons Field now play regularly at THE KESTREL, Derbyshire where they are developing THE KESTREL as a music venue. See the "What's on" page for details.
